Motion in Spotify
This project was intended to help us as designer's learn why even small details in design are important to the overall look and feel of a website or service. We were tasked with finding an application that could improve in certain areas; once we identified this, we would decide what aspects we wanted to redesign and then research the app to understand their brand standards and why the sections we chose were important.
To begin this project I looked at apps I most frequently use, I ended up with Spotify, Memrise and Youtube. I decided since Spotify was not utilizing motion graphics in their interactions, I would research them more heavily and decide what aspects of the app would be best used for motion graphics.
While I was working on this project, my intentions were to create something that was a little bit outside my comfort zone and push myself to work hard and be proud of what I created. As I worked on it, I encountered problems, but I worked hard to push through them and have my project be something that could actually be used by Spotify
Design Approach
From my research about Spotify I identified my areas of interest; which became the menu bar, artist profiles and the music player/music queue. These pages in the app currently are simple, clean and have a modern feel, those traits are carried throughout the entire app. Spotify wants to keep the app consistent and clean, while always keeping their look and feel that they want.
I then began remaking the interface of the app within Illustrator so I would be able to make it easily and have all the parts there for me to import it into Aftereffects. I worked very hard to make all of the interface look as close to the original as possible
